Today started off with a call to our mortgage company. Fun. We are trying to get our loan modified. As it stands now, we are about 70k flipped. Its pretty scary to think we will never be able to make a profit off of this house, unless of course the market makes a DRAMATIC change...becoming a "seller's market" again. Which I don't think we will see again for quite some time. And especially not in Maricopa...nobody
wants to live here. We need to get our payment lowered by about $800 a month. There really isn't any benefit to us if we stay here, it will be a constant struggle. We have been there before, and I would rather live comfortably in an apartment than HAVE NO LIFE AND NO MONEY IN A HOUSE (that we can never sell). Anyway, me and the husband got to talking and decided we wanted to throw this bit of info out to the family and friends that read this blog. We are not looking for charity or handouts, mostly because I think our ego's get in the way, but for your thoughts and prayers. If you have the means to help, please do.(and by "means" I mean connections. Keep your ears open for jobs, or ideas) We are within 60 days of losing our home and one of our vehicles...the new one, obviously not the jeep because we own that one. We know a lot of people that are either in contact with numerous people that are in a position to hire or have the ability to hire themselves. Everyone is always asking about the state of our finances, whether we are selling, staying or going, if I'm staying home or working. I'm starting to think its because of people own curiosity, not because they actually care. We live everyday in and out, thinking about these questions that people ask all the time. We are at peace with the fact that we might have to foreclose on our home, and lose a vehicle or some of the unnecessary luxuries. I am ok with a credit hit to ensure that my kid has a stable roof over his head and food in his mouth. I just want people to know that saving this house is not our first priority but making sure that this family stays together and is happy. We worked so much harder for it, and its truly worth "saving". I guess this has all been a test...we need to stop being so materialistic because sometimes the things in life worth saving are free.
And if you want my advice, opinion or if this even helps other people: Save your money. You dont need all that stuff, at least right now. We went on vacation the week before Shane lost his job...and ironically, on the very last day of that vacation I looked at Shane and said "If you lose your job I will kill you!" He was laid off the very next day. So...IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU!!On a happier note: I have a promising interview tomorrow with the company I used to work for. Keep your fingers crossed.
