Project: Organize Ryan's Room and Toys

We started buying baby toys the day after we found out I was pregnant. So there is a ton of them, and they are everywhere. In the beginning I thought that a medium sized plastic bin that I found at Ikea would do the job of containing it all, but now we have graduated to 3. The idea was to evenly split his toys into 3 equally exciting groups. Every box has the same amount of dinos, same amount of music toys, and same amount of cars. The picture to the left is a good idea of the messy disgrace that is his room. We will call it the "before" picture.

I started off by cleaning all of the plastic toys. I can only handle so much dried on puke and spit. Ryan has been sick enough this winter, I figure this is a good preventative measure. These boxes are great because they stack and they have wheels (which is great for sticking the kid in, then spinning him around the kitchen floor). Also, I like the colors. They go nicely with his new aquarium bedroom. After I saw how much Ryan loves his fish tank, fish rattles and fish mobile, I knew we had to make his room into a giant fish tank. I have decided to paint fish and other fish tank animals and plants on the walls of his room. I'm still in the early planning phase...I will post pictures when its done. Sorry Hannah Montana your poster has got to go. The kid is sooo over you!!

Here is the finished product, the "after" picture. The best part of the 3 bin plan, is if he is playing in the livingroom you can just bring one bin and if things get crazy, just throw the toys back in the bin and leave it. There is even another bin for the den if he happens to be playing in there. I guess the whole point is that we no longer have to drag toys one by one to his current playing location. I am really excited because I like having things clean and organized. And I know that Ryan appreciates it. Now he has more room to play and his room doesn't smell like dirty monkey!
